Hey! guys I'm so pissed . yesterday a DMV officer told me to pull over for safety inspection,co'z my tint they're asking me a permit or the seal on each tinted window.(which i don't have one)So he gave me a warning ticket telling me to go to anyDMV office for inspection,so i went right away to dmv,and they test my tint anfd find out it's legal .So here's the stupid thing the officer starts inspecting my whole car the lights , my exhaust and more.So after about 15 mins. he told me my tires are not allowed since i have 205/40/17 and my exhaust which is arowspeed the bomb.and my headlight was to strong . he only give me 20 days to go back and fix all of this .Guys what else is illegal . i feel so bad but i can't do anything it's a f$$$ law. need your opinion.ASAP

Tint vaires by state, since the DMV guy checked it and told you its legal get it in writing.

On the tires, thats ABSURD!!! I dont know of ANY law that states tires are illegal. Same goes for lights, the only thing they *might* make comment on is the aiming of the lights...but still no law on that to my knowledge.

On the exhaust, there may be a sound violation, but even with that, it is purely an opinionated *evaluation* on weather its too loud or not. This also varys by state, even county.

Either way, have the DMV show you the law. If they are citing/warning you, you have the right to attain it in writing in some shape or form.

Good luck man, but it sounds like they are just trying to intimidate/pressure you to go back to the norm...

What type of lights do you have? If you bought the PIAA they are most likely good, cause that are all mostly SAE and DOT approved. If you have a cheap name brand headlight good luck cause they never go through approval most times.

dont feel bad, if you give 'em an inch they'll take a mile, you'll end up with wasted money, and a bone stock car, make them write it all out and show you the laws

Man,......I hope nothing like that happends to me! I know that most places if your exhaust is over 90Dec. Then its too loud....the only way you can go over 90dec is if you have a straight pipe....mine is like 110 dc but I never got in trouble for it......just have them do a decible check....they cant get you if its under 90! Tires, I never heard of such a thing. And whats your wattage on the bulbs? Do you have the box? Cuz if they are stock wattage...input....then it should be ok...! :alien: :bloated: :licker: :smoka: :flash: Let us know what happends!

The ONLY thing I've EVER heard about problems with tires being illegal is:

1) NON-D.O.T. (full-on race rubber) ...where it states right on the tire that it is not for street or highway use

2) Beyond wear indicators (no tread left)...

3) very uneven wear and/or bulges showing possible road hazzard

Items #2 and #3 are for your own safety..

Item #1 is just one of those things dealing with safety inspection standards etc. etc. which is sort of funny considering that race drivers put their tires though extreme conditions and they don't fail but what the heck....

My father is a certified inspector for the state of Texas. I asked him about the tinting laws a while back when i was ready to get my windows tinted (still haven't yet). He explained to me that Texas has two inspection standards when it comes to tinting. There's the inspection standard, which is 20%. and there's the highway standard, which is 35%.
Why the hell the standard for the highway is lighter than the standard for passing state safety inspection? Why aren't they the same? I've talked to people who passed the inspection, but got a ticket on the highway for the tint being too dark. I guess it's just one dem tings...
