1995 Grand Prix starting (not starter) problems

I have a 95 Grand Prix with 69,000 miles, great shape and condition except anywhere from 2-5 times a day I have to sit in the car and wait for it to start for about 5 minutes. It ALWAYS eventually turns over, but i need more reliability than this. It could be the theft deterrent relay, but the previous owners installed keyless entry and they seemed to have bypassed the system. I can't find the relay or even the module. I don't know what to do next. Please let me know your ideas. Thanks

When you say "not starter" do you mean it is cranking/no start or it isn't even cranking? Please give a few more details.

When I turn the key in the ignition, all the lights on the dash, radio, blowers, lights, etc...will all work. I don't even hear the starter cranking. I just replaced the starter, I have tested it and it is working fine. I am so at a loss that I took it to a shop and they told me it was the theft deterrent relay or module, but the mechanic can't find either one! Again, it always starts after I wait a few minutes, but when I have the key turned completely, there is no noise at all. Seems like the message isn't even making it to the starter. Did the new starter come with a new solenoid? Do you have power at the trigger wire when you hit the key? When you test the starter are you bench testing it or trying it on the car with a remote start switch. Try the remote start switch and see if it goes every time. It may be an intermittent solenoid or a bad ground cable, or pos. cable. I do not know if there is a relay or if the power goes straight from the key to the solenoid in your car. The ignition switch or any relay in the circuit could be bad. Intermittents are a bitch. Start at the starter installed on the car and work your way backwards. As far as any antitheft stuff, you will need a good shop manual to diagram that out.
