installing new battery cable in 2000 GP

My positive cable/terminal was corroded beyond the point of salvaging so I am going to install a new cable. I'm getting an OE cable from NAPA and was looking under the hood last night to see what was involved. It looks like two cables are tied to the positive terminal. One cable obviously goes to the starter and the other looked like it headed behind the fuse/relay box.

It would appear the fuse/relay box needs to be removed to do the install. Anyone done this or have some tips?

The positive cable to the fuse box snakes under and up the back of the fusebox to the connection located on the top of the fuse box. The connection point is under the red plastic cover marked +.

You don't have to totally remove the box just undo the top retaining nut, then pull up on the fuse box and move it a little forward. That way its easier to undo the plastic clips that are holding the cable in place and for routing the cable through the plastic protective cable cover on the back and underneath.

BTW - Make sure the cable is not connected to the battery before starting work and when completed make sure the bottom of the fuse box is properly inserted/retained into the cutout slot on the inner fender.

Easy DIY job. Good luck!
