Yeah, I know about it. I guess all you could do is get a really nice license plate frame, hehe. Maybe one that matches the color of your car. All I can think of...?

:o Hey guy's I have an article here from MAXIM magazine a cop talk's about the front license plate issue.
The big reason why cops hassle you about it, it's because the flat surface is a favorite for cops to aim at with a radar gun car's being rounder now a day's makes it harder for the radar to focus the gun on, he went on to say that the licnse plate is perfect for catching speeder's but here is an intresting thing he also said that dark color car's are hard to read with a radar gun & you are able to get off clean with a dark color vehicle, he said white car's are his favorite cause they always get clocked perfect on the radar gun.
So I guess this is why they are pushing the license plate thing beside the abiouse reasons that it is the law ooooohh scary!:finger:
So the Magazine was maxim the july issue .
BTW this is an awsome mag.

I got on of those plastic plate protectors. It is a clear and bubble shapped (rounded). Would this be harder for the cops who are trying to aim at the license plate?

FYI, slickkedar it's not really a fix-it ticket. It's more like a "pay us and fix it anyway" ticket.
The reason front plates are manditory in CA (actually, they have been manditory for a while, they're just ramping-up enforcement lately) is so that the stop-light cameras will work, because they take a picture of the front of your car if you're in the intersection when the light's red.

Yeah thats the reason. The camera takes three shots I think, the front, the back, and of the person driving the vehicle (windshield shot.) Just incase it doesn't get the back, they use the front shot instead.

Is there any way to get around it?? And how much is the ticket?

i think it's a lame law....most high end cars dont even come with front license plates....look at the MB S500 or a Land Rover....it's just a way to give us tickets when the donut is running low in the store...so they have SOEMTHING to do....if it really is "illegal" to not have front plate, why do we, the consumers, have to drill our own hole to the front bumper of our new G20s to put on the plate???? seems optional to me...

:o In the article the cop said just take it off , but there is that one cop that will pull you over for not having it last time I got a ticket was for around $25 for it not being there I give them the same story it got ripped off.
I always take them off my car's, I have had 7 car's & all have not had them on, stopped only in one car.
the Cop didn't pull me over for not having the front plate it was cause I left my under body neons on my Eclipse. OOP's
I curently run my G20t & my pathfinder without plates.:bloated:

hey guys, i found what seems to be a really good idea to get around the law........what you do is take some velco backing and put it on the back of the licence plate.....then take some of the other back and put it on the passenger side's shade flap (thing, you know, with the mirror on the other side) and put the licence plate there.....that way, cops can see your plate from the front, but you dont have to drill into your car.....i just did it, looks fine......just thought you guys might be interested!;)

well in NJ we have to have a front plate on.
last year I decided, hey.. i see a lot of people without them, I'm taking mine off too!
Well, seems this d1**head cop makes it his mission in life to find me weekly. I was averaging 2 or 3 tickets a month @ $45 each, ouch!!
I tried getting away with the whole license plate on the dash thing.. no go!! he quickly informed me that the plate must be on the bumper and the bottom of it must be 12-36 inches off the ground.. seems he was a technical expert in the field of DMV regulations.
I also tried just about every story from... it got ripped off/knocked off to the holes being stripped and needing to get bigger screws... ticket everytime!!
After number 15.. YES #15, I gave in and put it back on!

well, i was just joking about being cheap......yea, i know what you mean, it does look kinda cheap, but i think i got the trick down.....when i get pulled over (hopefully, never, but come on, lets be realistic), ill just pull down the passenger side flap, and show it to the cop....maybe it might work??

hehe... too bad I'm putting a Japanese plate on there!! and when I get the DET I'm cutting that thing off so all you see is intercooler!
btw, after ticket #15 i still hadnt paid the first one. i ended up going to court and telling the judge that someone had backed into my plate and broken the holder off. i told him that the part was on backorder for over a month and i hadnt been able to pick it up yet since i work 8 to 5. i told him that this police officer was blatently harrassing me and sometimes (this is true) he would just see my car and come speeding up and pull me over, without even seeing the front of my car!!! he'd then say, did you put the plate on yet? and go look... no plate, ticket!! i asked how it was possible to get pulled over and get a ticket for something when the police officer didnt even see the violation until after i was pulled over.
i ended up only having to pay for 8 of the tickets.

today i got pulled over for speeding. 78 in a 65-no ticket, thank god, just a written warning. i have a greek flag plate in the front and my real plate in my window on the driver's side. the cop asked me why i didn't have my plate in front and i told him i had my greek flag up there. he explained to me that in the case of a roll-over accident the license plate could be used as a weapon against me b/c it's sharp. maybe he was right, but f*** 'em i'm leaving my flag up.
it's a law in most states, but here in colorado their is a bill to get rid of it. the cops argument is that they won't be able to read license plates when they're driving looking for stolen cars. more BS if you ask me.

slick, i'm no longer in the dorms, but i used to be in Sunset village a year ago. I'm still nearby in the apartments. Just a word of caution, be careful if you park in SV parking! I had my rear corner panel messed up by some hit and run. Cost me $900 to repair. What year are you? Later.

it's pricy but there are places that sell stealth coated tinted film you put on the front bumper and winshields to reject radar guns.

Oh and by the way, California state law says your plate has to be mounted securely no more than 3 feet up from the ground, unless you drive a truck. I looked into it when i got pulled over. I don't think most cops care anymore. I drove around for about 4 months before i slapped the plate on, and wasn't stopped.

the other day a stupid cop pull my car over and said my exhaust was too loud. but when he gave my girlfriend the ticket.. he was like.."i'll give you a warning for your exhaust but here is a ticket for having no front plate. " i didn't realize that on the ticket he wrote no front plate.. but i have my front plate. it's inside my car on the passenger side. and i think thats legal. i read somewhere that if your front plate fall off.. to put it inside on the passenger side. by the way i live in minnesota.
i me and my girl will go to court for that shit.. i'm not going to pay a fine because some racist cop.. i'm still looking around to make sure that its legal to put it onthe passenger side..
can yall help??
