Wow, nice kit. I just saw a yellow Testarossa at a local body shop I go to. Wow, its a thing of beauty. Good luck on the build!

I've built this kit a long time ago. Pretty nice but a bit low on details concidering the massive scale. The wheels were also a bit too small if I remember correctly..

I think for the front grill, it'd be easier to just drill out the whole thing and remake the fins from styrene.

It looks like you know what you're doing, so that shouldn't be too difficult.

Nice looking so far. I just got this kit and am wondering if you have to correct firing order on your distributor or if you just made it up. Let's see some progress also.

Engine almost ready:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0010_web.jpg

interior with leather and "vilt"(have no idea how ist called in English it's a sort of fabric):

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0016_web.jpg

started constructing the engine lid with plastic strips

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0026_web.jpg

Modified the wheels, cut the back of the rim an installed a polynap from tamiya to attach the wheel to the car

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0032_web.jpg

painted the rims silver and added a valve:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0033_web.jpg

lowered the suspension a bit, and added scrathbuild shocks and brakedisks

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0005_web.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/smal/IMG_0001_web.jpg

It's starting to look like a testarossa :D

@ CFCrules: heres a link to a pic with all the partnumbers, hope it helps

Hi,

how did you cut the stripes from plastic for the engine cover ?

Each stripe looks different.

Why donīt you take some Evergreen stripes and just cut them with a knife to the desired length?

Awesome, you opened up the rear vents. I took like a hour to find a good picture of the vents to see how they really were, and now I need to cut mine open.

Hi, thanks for that picture, it really helps. I decided to set the model down about a month ago due to the huge amount of details on the body that need changing, the best bet for the rear grill, is to cut them with a modelling saw and then sand with a file, while the rear lid, I created again, using Evergreen strips, it took like a weekend to get that looking just right. The level of detail in the interior, that can be changed is huge, I started adding detail to the front, but got stuck making hinges, any idea how to do this nicely and easily? Thanks again

It's "felt" in English :). Great build so far. I can't wait to see more.

25+?
The Testarossa is from 1984, that is 22 years ago, perhaps the kit is 20 years old, even younger :)

Thats nice, I could get my hands on that kit yesterday for 20€ (modelshop is closing)
and I am really interested in how to make the hood and the doors working :)

Finally some progress :D

Here's what i've done so far:

current status: painted the front and rear lid but the body stil needs some putty and sanding work done:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0004.jpg

rear lid: I've cut away the kit louvres and replaced them with plastic strips
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/4d855c31.jpg

The engine is finaly ready, just added some wiring and detail painting
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0007.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0020.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0023.jpg

The front lid, I cut some felt for the boot but I haven't glued in place yet
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0009.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/781b7e60.jpg

For the hinge of the front lid I used some sprue, I glued it to the lid and body, drilled a hole in it and put some ironwire in it:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0011.jpg

Rear wheel: I think the stance is pretty good

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0029.jpg

some other parts like lights and front grille are also ready

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0030.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0027.jpg

interior: the whole interior is fitted with leather and felt, I sanded the luggage belts behind the seats and replaced them with leather ones

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/8c7047d2.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/IMG_0019.jpg

for the door hinge I used the same technique as for the bootlid

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/tifosi_forever/testarossa/87476e42.jpg

Thats it for now, I might finish this project after all :p

O and BTW, I can't stop torturing myself :D

Thanks for the pics, they will be great reference for me :)
I'd like to have that F40 in 1:12, but I should finish my 1:16 version first, ther e is everything to open.
Unfortunately the shop did not have the F40, perhaps I will do one when I have enough money saved (in 1- 2- 3 years? ;) )

hm, one question again:
How did you find out, how the door panels need to be aligned so that the door shuts correctly?
and can you please give me some reference pics so that I can wire the engine, too? :)

Great works so far! Especially on the leather and flocking area. Detailing on the engine looks nice. But I have to agree with Micha on the stripes.

Thats some good news :)
I am really interested in how you make the doors work and how you align the door panels to the door.
