What happened????

Ok so I'm working on my S2000 and I paint the body wait about a week and a half then i go to clear coat it and this happenshttp://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y96/injecting/FUCK.jpg Clear coat is Rust Oleum paint is testors. Can anyone tell me what's going on??

What type of paint is it you used for each coat? It's not something obvious like spraying a lacquer over enamel is it?

I used simple Emanal for each coat.

It defiantely looks like some kind of chemical reaction from here - looks as if's "bubbled" up like when you use a paint stripper. Were both jars/cans you were using new? or had you used them both b4 on other kits? if new, maybe one of them was faulty?

Or maybe something contaminated the surface of the model between coats and you didn't notice? spray anything in close proximity in between times?

the clear is to agresive, for sure, if it's not what Phil said (clear being laquer) then the propelent in clear is to strong for the base colour.
Only solution, give it brake fluid bath and start over with other clear coat.

Rustoleum, Krylon.... are all way too hot to apply over testors. Looks like this one is going for a dip in the purple pond!

No, Tamiya TS-13 over enamel will not work at all. You need to start again and stick to like paints, i.e. all lacquer or all enamel. There is plenty of info on paint types in the FAQ.

Warm your can! Thats the problem. Was the can cold?

Warming the can will reduce "orange peel" but this looks like more than just that.

Josh- No the can was not cold it was warm.

No both cans were used before and checked every time used, Also what Brake fluid should I use DOT 3?

Sorry to see what happened to your paint job. I dont know which type of brake fluid to use as I have never used it before myself and would like to know if there is a better type than others. Also, how do you clean the break fluid off afterward? Personally I use Castrol Super Clean (CSC). I've stripped plastic and resin and never had any parts damaged by the CSC. The one minor problem I had was the pigment of the original plastic was "bleached" abit on one car, but that was my fault I left it in the bath for like 2 weeks when I went on vaction. But the plastic is still strong, just kinda pink now instead of red.

You can use a toothbrush and scrub it off. I just take it that DOT3 is good. :screwy:

I have seen the same happen when using nail polish with an air brush with not enough air pressure. it appears to have reacted though. :2cents:

i've used no-name DOT3 and DOT 4 with fine results. Just remember to THOROUGHLY wash the model afterwards to get rid of all the DOT. If you spray over that, you'll be :banghead: all over again :)
