Rear strut bars for a Spyder?

I've been looking for rear strut bars for my GS-T Spyder for a long time. Anyone know if they make 'em, or can one be custom made?

check 4g64.com I remember reading an article on there about them. Aparently you can get them but you need to get special mounting hardware for some reason. I know thats really vague and I'm sorry I just don't remember mor then that. If I come across them I'll let you know.

I have been looking into these because I have read that they help with wheel hop/traction problems. I see some on ebay for $30 and others for $100+.
What the hell is the difference? I am trying to get a little more traction before this 16g gets dropped in.
Side note: Bridgestone Potenza Indy S-03 tires suck ass! $130 a pop and they don't hook up as well as my old Dunlop SP-5000's.
I have heard really good things about the Faulken Azenis Sports. Maybe I'll try them. Anyone want to buy some Potenza's....brand new :naughty:

No idea on the rear bar Shpyder. You guys really do have the oddball car. I'm envious on these nice summer days, but not when you're trying to buy parts.
I'll look into how to custom make them, that could be fun. I'd follow Nova's site first, that's on point.
I've read the bars help with wheel hop, a bit. Not as much as tires and motor mounts, but every bit is helpful :)
My advice on buying bars: Solid mounting (no wimpy aluminum), a bar with no or very few bends, non adjustable, and connected to the firewall. That would be a good performance bar. Thickness of the bar is overrated. It would only be important if the force was distributed across the bar, and usually, the wimpy connection points flex before the bar has a chance to. Material is something to think about: light, and non rusting would be good. Anyway... it's amazing how fast a long piece of metal becomes a convoluted subject. It's just a bar, afterall. I wrote a little more in the suspension thread, too.

I got the S-03's because the were rated as high performance summer tires and had the highest traction rating (AAA) and the lowest treadwear rating (220). With the Dunlops my car would maintain traction when the turbo spooled until the tires got down to having about 1/3 of the tread left. Then they would start to break loose in 1st gear at WOT.
The S-03's break loose brand new, every time :shakehead: . I'm really not trying to sell them, I was just screwing around. But if I was trying to sell them, at least I was being honest. :cool:

Yeah, I got a $20 one from E-Bay, it's actually sitting right behind me. I got one that advertised for 'turbo only', so I'm hoping it'll fit my car, considering all 2G 4g63s are layed out the same. The 2G firewall is really close to the strut towers, so a strut bar on a 1G makes more difference than one on a 2G... but for $35 shipped, I can't complain too much. I guess the less a bar flexes, the better it is.

I love the "odd ball" factor :naughty: Don't have to worry about driving by a car just like mine every 3 minutes.
Anyway, I really haven't run into any problems getting parts for mine. That's probably because almost everything has been performance related.

don't buy rear struts bars for gs-t because your top will not have room to go down. I made this mistake.

Woah...now thats a revalation. Never really thought of that...but the top utilizes only about 20% of the space...its all flexible cloth that just kinda...folds. No?

I remember talkin to boostedspyder about this quite a while ago.... If you take out the back wall you will see that it already has a somewhat strut bar/strut X for strength/stability. After seeing that I gave up on asking numerous "ebayers" if the rear strut would work on a spyder... all the responses I ever got was... uh, yeah, sure.... like I would trust that.... or I don't know but they DO work on all other models.... lol duh...
I think that the spyders rear end is pretty solid with the trunk lid and such back there.... that's my 2 cents

You know, with the back seat removed, there is a long and wide "wall" of metal right behind the seat that could serve the purpose...along with those cross-member style rods just after the top-down area...
