2000 GT tends to hesitate around 2000-2500rpm at times.
I have a new fuel pump and filter installed and the tranny has been cleaned flushed taken care of
now at this RPM range, it does not seem like it is slipping cause, if the tranny were to slip, it should raise in rpm, right? in this case it seems to drop in rpm like if there were a bad ign source or fuel supply problem.
what should i look at. the car idles great, that i can tell and drive fine at higher speeds. the problem is around the 2000-2500rpm range. Has anybody else have this problem and what should I start to look for, I dont think it should be the furel pressure reg. cause it does great at higher rpms. and lower.. and it does not stall when i try to come to a stop so i dont think it is the stall conv. lock up. ANY IDEAS before i take it on vaction the way it is..
Thanks

I agree with your assessment of an ignition related problem. Assuming you are a normal driver and put approximately 12k miles on your car per year you are probably due for new plugs and wires. This could cause the problem you describe. You may also want to dump a bottle of good quality injector cleaner in the tank to clean the injectors. The only other thing I can think of would be a coil that may not be firing correctly at that RPM range. It would not necessarily throw a CEL due to the fact that it is working properly just not throwing enough spark to ignite the fuel properly.

My 99gt had the same symptoms it turned out to be the MAF sensor if you search this forum for MAF related stuff you should get some more info.

Normal DRiver ---hehe--- but 12-16kapprox.. is about correct. I was wondering about the injector cleaner, is there any certain kind that may act fast for a quicker breakdown or is it juat about all the same..
And I did last night use the old waterbottle trick, after i did some looking around to see if there was any visual spark, I sprayed around the coil packs and down near the plugs but with the heat shields installed on the plugs it was sort of hard but i brought to engine up tp about 2g up and down while wet and no luck , I know this does not mean 1 or two coils can be weak.. so I will check into it about how to check the current and volts/ resistance of each coil..
