So pissed off today....rang up the insurance company jsut to check on credit card details, and policy details....and turns out they cancelled my policy a few days ago.....without informing me.....they reckon that there were 3 attempts at debitting my credit card, which failed....and they said a letter was sent....
Bloody idiots!!!! I received two letters, about late payments before, and each time rung up to get this rectified....and the operators....where all like "its all fine....don't worry.." and last time I rang a couple weeks ago, and they said...yes you're insurance is still active etc...... and find out today, that the car has been without insurance for the last few days.....
I chucked a spit ofcourse.....they can't even work out how to debit a credit card per month...and the guy even suggested there might be something wrong with the card...and I'm like  the card has a really high limit...I dont think so.
they even sent me a out a letter with all the updated information on the account last week  and they turn around now, and say because its their "policy" after 3 missed payments its cancelled....not that I was notified properly or anything....and they can't figure out how to take money out of an account.....after speaking to a supervisor... I lodged a formal complaint....but because of their new policies...etc cause there company has changed...they are no longer able to reactivate cancelled accounts, and the requirements they use to obtain new quotes has also changed..... so it turns out that if i was to get a new quote with the same information it would be $1000 more expensive!
IDIOTS!! now I'm left without insurance for the car....have checked a few quotes online...NRMA is the cheapest for me so far...but its still pretty pricey...
I've had nothing but crap from this company so don't go anywhere near direcdial or allianz insurance :devil:

I was just going to recommend Shannons. There is some good insurance shit in Hot4s this month (the one Pete was complaining about). Get that and ring some ppl. Hope you get it all sorted quickly. I know how the bastardry at Insurance companies can get you down. Good luck babz, Oz.

Shannons don't do people my age for integras.... gio a bit cheaper than nrma...waiting for response from broker.... going to call young and cool later...after I finish work...otherwise GIO may have to be it...even though it is a bit pricey.

Try insuring a car that didn't come out in Australia and isn't listed as a car that can be complianced even though it's a private import
Unfortunately, when you sign an insurance contract, you are letting them do whatever they want including cancelling the contract itself on any premise - it's all in the wording: they win and you lose :(
I've gone back to 3rd party property and damage by uninsured drivers for that very reason. As a 4G the insurance will only go to 4 grand, as an import it's premium is worth a 1/3rd of the price I paid for it per year and as a "modified" Civic it can't be insured without an engineers cert for the mods (go try explaining to them that this is how it left the factory) and the premium is nuts not to mention the variety of extra clauses that 6 companies tried to throw in.
This is all despite the fact that I am in the over 30 bracket, have had one accident that was my fault 17 years ago or so, 2 accidents that wern't my fault over 10 years ago and had a 30% no-claim bonus with NRMA. To say I hate insurance companies is an understatement.

Checking for a few more quotes.... a friend suggested I try shannons again, cause it always differs on who you speak to at the time....
so I got a pretty decent quote today for all my mods included...and they are sending me out the details next week. Just gotta install an immobiliser. gonna ring around a few other places....but probably will change to them....
so silly the other guy told me they don't insure integras for my age.....meanwhile my friend drives a turbo Rx7 and is the same age  that's why he said ring again.

Grrr...... get this ring up Shannon's to see if they sent the info...and they say they can't find anything under my name on record...and check, and even ask the guy they reckon I spoke to, and then they say we don't insure that vehicle for comprehensive cover....
I call back get another operator, this man who states...we don't insure those types of cars..only vintage, street machines....doesn't matter if you have a bit of plastic, and some wheels, and a stereo
ring back 10 minutes later...and get a nicer guy who re-does a quote for me....this time it comes up $2600...he says he will send out info....
Go FIGURE!!!!
I'll just check the mail over the next week...if not...I'll still have to consider options again...insurance cover note runs out on 15th.

Got the independant Insurance Assessor to come today, gave me valuation on the car. Reckons its worth 25K. Getting immobiliser put in tomorrow, and hopefully that sorts out all insurance hassles, and I don't have to worry.... I hope anyway!
