mine is a 97 and it resides in toledo ohio. however, i got her in massasschusettes, if that is how you spell it. i drove her home 750 miles when i got it, and it had almost 137,000 when i got it in august last year. what a steal too, $2500. i now have almost 144,000 and it runs very nice, except a slight problem i am having which i will post, and maybe you guys can help me out.

Suzi lives in Toledo, Oh too! Have had her 5 yrs and put on 100,000 great miles.....major problems = water pump (a month ago), a/c compressor, lights wouldn't turn off (fixed w/ help from here), rear door wouldn't open (just fixed by taking door panel off and shimming plastic lock).....

99 w/ 100k on it. I love the car. It is great for trips, has good power, and you can't argue with the creature comforts. A few things on my list that I want to do. 1) Fix A/C - needs compressor 2) fix chirping of brakes 3)fix click I feel when turning and finally, 4)somehow get the front end a little stiffer - probably w/better tires and try to find some springs somewhere that will fit, and maybe the Caddy STS stabilizer. She rocks and rolls just a lil too much for me at times.

Hi - new to the forum. Wish I had known about this sooner - prob could have saved some serious $$$... This car is the successor to an 88 Trofeo that was mostly perfect at 170k miles until the tornado (ironic, huh?) hit it, and I got tired of looking for cosmetic parts, and misc. interior parts).

Anyway - I love my 98 Aurora, in spite of some issues I am having/have had... now with 106,500 ~ miles

Public enemy #1 is oil pessure. Within the last 19 months I have started a killer commute (45 miles, lot's of stop and go, can take up to 2 hours, or as little as 50 minutes - typically 90 minutes)

Last summer, especially on hot days I started getting oil pressure warnings when idling in traffic. I had dealer check the oil pressure - confirmed the digital guage was accurate. Would get below 5 psi and chime like the devil. I surmised it was the hot weather combined with sitting in traffic. Once the engine temp got above a certain line on the guage, it drove me crazy. I couldn't keep shifting into neutral and revving it up to shut it up. Verdict concensus is worn bearings (without actually going in there to look). Tried 10w-40 with mixed success. Finally my local goodyear dealer suggested a high quality synthetic. "You mean like mobil one?" "No - something better - I think it's called Amsoil." His idea was that it would hold it's viscosity at higher temps better than anything else.

Well - I've been using Amsoil 10w-40, and even stuck in traffic on 98+ degree days stuck in traffic I get no chimes. Oil pressure rarely falls below 8 PSI. I don't know how long this is going to last, but I hope it's for a while yet.

Other issues... just replaced the AC compressor (if you think the engine got hot...!) and my Diamond White paint is degrading underneath the clear coat. Everyone is mystified. It looks terrible, and I have no idea why, and doubt it's worth repainting. Also have replaced the shocks, spark plug wires, and the stalk switch - the flicker problem I read so much about.

Still - rides like new, accellerates like new, and in spite of the oil pressure issue, I get about 31 MPG on hwy, and my commutes average out to about 23 MPG (this is about 1 MPG higher than I was getting before I switched to synthetic.

I photoshopped the factory wheels to see how it would look. I also took out the door handles and fuel door too. Nice clean look.

98 Autoban, 110,000, new plugs, waterpump, ignition switch (wait 3 minutues error) fuel sensor in tank going bad other than that, no problems, no leaks, uses no oil. Oil changes every 3 to 4 k miles. K&N air. Runs on 89 oct, 22 to 24 MPG average moderate traffic w/ AC blowing ice cubes, daily driver.

Totally happy with car. :2cents:
