Antenna replacement

Kid had a minor accident which snapped the antenna mount right off his 98 Wrangler. I'm going to replace the antenna, but, looking at some online, it appears that there is a bolt that screws onto the back of the mount to hold the antenna mount on the body. My question is, its double wall there, and there is just over an inch between the walls, how do you get in there to put the nut on to install the antenna?

thanks

Interesting question. Go to radio shack, buy a new antenna. There should be a nut welded on, where the oem antenna bolts onto. Or its just a nut on the inside engine compartment. Either way, you want the same ohms (resistance). There are a few differnt styles.

I haven't done one on a Wrangler, but it may involve being irritated and reaching up in there with a wrench.

For odd problems like this, I usually swing by the dealership and ask a friendly mechanic how to get at it. It usually works.

Found the answer, the antenna bracket mount screws onto the body with 3 self tapping sheet metal screws, which are then covered by the black plastic cover
