Minimum Octane

Am I wasting money by putting 91 Octane or above in my G20? The manual says to put in 91 or above. Do y'all put in the high octane gas?

I put 91 in mine. Used to put in 93, but waste of money, no point in doing it. I wouldnt put in anything less than 91 because of the increased sulfer in the fuel. So stick with 91 and you will be fine.

We only get 2 types in NZ...91-96. I have tried both and have not noticed any difference. I wouldn't want anything under 91 though.

Around here (Northern VA) we get 87, 89, and then 92 or above. Just wondering if the 1.80 I'm paying a gallon is being wasted. But I guess if the manual says to do it than I'll do it.

what yr is ur car? my is a 92 and my owners manual says 87, so that's what i use. i have no problems with at. just use whatever ur book tells u and i think u'll be okay.

i gotta P11 2001 model and using 87 regular gas....sometimes it sticks like hell with dat sulfer smell. i should change to 89?

Mine is a 2000 G20 and it says 91 Octane or above in the manual.

i have a '99 G20 and the manual says 87 octane. i know the '99 has 140hp and the '00 has 145hp, but i thought that was solely due to the change from a regular muffler to a low restriction dual exhaust tipped muffler... i cant see how that could possibly change the octane requirement in the engine. whats the deal?

I usally Just use 89 dont have any problems and no sulfer smell everyonce and a while i will put 93 the car seems to run a little better but havent noticed a difference in the amount of gas mileage ive gotten

yeh, was using 87, but getting terrible sulfer smell. this week, I put in some 93 octane and walla! no sulfer smell. manual says to use 87, but from now on I think I'll use 89 or 93.

My manual on my '95 G20 said 87. I used 93 at first, and the temp is fine. However, when I switched to 87, i noticed the engine does over heat easily if the weather is extreme hot. But power is the same...

i Put the 92 octane availaible here in tucson Az in my car right now it is only 1.57 a gallon down from 1.79 thank god. I noticed a difference in the way my car run once i put it on 92. but thats just me in my opinion 87 sux ass.:flipa: to 87 octane.

yeh, seems like our G's dont like 87 octane. :finger: to 87 octane. hahaha :D
