anyone know where I can find the screw bit to remove the foglights?

I hear the headache it can be to remove the fog lights. I currently own a 99 eclipse, anyone know where I can find that screw bit to remove those screws?

I wasn't aware the fogs were hard to do. Just looked it up in the Haynes and they made it sound easy enough, and didn't mention any special tools.

You need a star bit, apparently. I wouldn't buy a big set, I've used them twice in my life :). If you don't mind ghetto-rigging it, you can get away with a small flathead, sometimes. Doesn't sound like that's the case here, since there's a lot of rust involved, and they're easy to strip. PB Blaster sounds like a must for this job.

More search, and advice on install:

"1) Take off the plastic fog light bumper housing thing to give you more room to work.
2) Unplug the fog light wiring harness.
3) Unscrew the phillips head screw holding the metal fog light housing on. Swear a lot and use lots of PB Blaster because it's probably rusted on, and Mitsu should've used a bolt instead. Pull the entire housing out the front, if you don't completely strip the screw head first.
4) Take the fog light housing to your workbench and unscrew the little phillips screws from the back of the housing.
5) Unplug the bulb from the wiring harness. Unclip the shiny metal clip that holds the bulb in place and replace bulb.
6) Installation is reverse of removal.

Tips:
1. Don't touch the new bulb with your fingers, or it will create hotspots on the bulb surface that may cause a burnout.
2. Replace the Phillips head screw that holds the fog light housing onto the car with a bolt, so next time you can use a socket/ratchet to remove it easier."

Would wd-40 be the same as PB blaster?

I would hate to leave this little project halfway because I cant remove a freakin screw. It would piss me off.

I had to drill mine out. I used an easyout but that didn't work all that well so I took a plain drill to it and got it out that way... I had the star bit. IT was just rusted to all hell.. I wish the world would use hex heads.

I wish the world would use bolts. In my searching, that's what most people did after changing their bulbs-- took the screw off and put a nut and bolt in its place. Sounds like a good idea.

Ahhhhhh, the dreaded fog lights. What a pain in the ass.

Follow GSX_hooptie's instructions. They are near dead on.

One of the screws was so bad, instead of cutting it off, I just jacked the car up and took the bottom of the housing off, and put the bulb in that way. Very uncomfortable, time consuming, and tiring (shoulders and arms), but in the end, it worked out.

If I had to do it over again, I would have taken it to a dealership in a second, and saved myself hours of pain and anguish, and my throat would not have been so sore from cussing those little SOB's out.

I was able to find the bit at a true value hardware store for four bucks. I was gonna spray the bolts with wd-40. Would wd-40 be considered the same as pb blaster?

I've heard wd-40 isn't a true penetrating oil, but that's fine, don't worry about it. PB has worked better in my experience. There's also stuff on the market that's better, still. Or so I'm told.
