2000 Astra 1.6i Engine Number Location??

Just purchased a used Opel Astra, trying to process the paperwork. Customs is looking for the Engine Number. I cannot locate this. The VIN I have found. It is supposed to be stampped into the Engine Block but I can't see anything.
