Has anyone gotten a universal exhaust and had a muffler shop do a custom catback on it? If so, what kind of muffler did u get, and how does it look and sound...thanks

Haven't done it to the spec v yet but on my Maxima I had a place install a cutom catback and Ractive muffler. It sounded pretty good. The only problem getting a shop to build it is they usually crush bend the pipe which restricts it a bit more than mandrel bends.

I had a Magnaflow (part #14815) twin-tipped stainless steel muffler on my '92 Se-r. It looked beautiful, well constructed, and the tips filled out the bumper cutout nicely. Problem was, it was loud as hell! I ended up going back to the muffler shop that did the original install and had: first a perforated core glasspack and later a louvered core 26" glasspack installed in place of the factory resonator in an attempt to quiet the system down.

I sold that car last month, and now have a '94 Se-r with all stock exhaust. I am looking at replacing the muffler, but, despite the beauty and craftsmanship of the Magnaflow, I will probably go in another direction (maybe dynomax universal?) in hopes of keeping the decibels close to stock.

i got a universal apexi N1 installed with custom stainless steel cat back done to my spec v. it sounds okay, though it sounds rough when you shift (probably because it is the turbo N1) but i like it and my friends love it.
