I have a 1998 S-10 that has been experiencing a problem getting into gear. It's a 5 speed manual transmission. When changing gears they seem to stick have to beforced into position. However if I pump the clutch a few times while idlin g they gears seem to shift normally for a while. Any ideas? I have checked the clutch fluid which is fine.

Thanks for any help

try bleeding the clutch system , and look for leaks , i know from time to time the master cylinders leak internally , ive changed a few , not all that hard to change and around 150$ from GM , check for external leaks , if the throw out bearing is leaking (no slave , 98 and up s-10's use a hydraylic throwout bearing) , you SOL cuz you have to pull the trans to change it , but yeah , try bleeding it first and go from there

Ok i will give bleeding the system a try. I am not the most mechanically inclined though. Know of any place I can read up on how to do it?

Thanks

Go to autozone or pepboys and buy a Hanes or Chiltons manual for you truck. It will save you time and money in the long run. They are only about 15 bucks.
