It's apparent to me that this forum has a few problems. One such issue is that newbies aren't made very welcome here because they are all "dumbasses" according to the majority of this forum population. Another issue is with flaming, often times related to the first issue I mentioned. In light of this, and the fact that there is currently no acting moderator for this forum, I'm going to be making some new rules as well as acting as the moderator until a new moderator is appointed.
These rules are not optional, and will be followed if you would like to continue posting here.
1. NO FLAMING. Period. This should be simple to achieve; simply don't fight over stupid things. If you are caught flaming, your first time is a warning, second time is 5 days off, the third time is 14 days and the fourth time is Permanent. If you can't learn after a 2 week ban, then you are not wanted on this forum.
2. BE RESPECTFUL. It's very simple. There are many different members with many different opinions about many different facets of the 240 world. If someone here likes KA's over SR's and you don't like that, I don't want you being a dick because of their preference. Disrespect creates unwanted problems. To me it's just another notch on the ban stick. So think it over before being a dick.
3. TREAT NEWBIES WITH FAIRNESS. This is one that I'm going to be cracking down on. You might not like a newbie, but unless he proves himself/herself to be an outright idiot, either answer the questions posed or keep your comments to yourself. There is a reason that people keep leaving this forum and I've got news for you, it's not because they're bored. We want to ATTRACT new members and RETAIN them. If I catch anyone ragging on a newbie because of a question asked, EVEN if it's something that to you is common sense, it will be a 1 day ban. If you can't play nice then you will sit in time out.
4. BE HELPFUL. I know there are people in this forum who have knowledge of the cars represented, so here's what I propose: SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE. If someone has a question and you have the answer, help them. That's what this forum is here for, among other things. It shouldn't matter if the person is new or an old member, everyone in this forum who knows something about these cars should be out to assist those who don't know as much with their questions and learn things just the same.
5. DO NOT CONTINUE LOCKED THREADS. This one should be easy enough to follow. If a thread is closed by either myself or another moderator, DON'T start another thread to continue it. It was obviously closed for a reason. Not only that, but the majority of threads that get closed fairly quickly are either full of flames or no longer serve a purpose. Therefore, anyone who continues a thread that is closed just to spite another member or what have you, will receive a 24 hour ban.
6. DO NOT INSTIGATE OR EGG ON. This goes along with the flaming rule. If there is an argument going on over something stupid (which is generally the case) DON'T egg it on or feed the fire. Either wait for myself or another moderator to take notice, or send myself or another moderator a private message. Things will be taken care of accordingly.
7. And Finally, ENJOY THE FORUM. This place is meant to be enjoyed. The fact that I have rules in place does not mean that there can't be fun had. The people of this forum are here because they all share an interest in 240's and all that goes with them, so enjoy the forum for what it is.
These rule should not restrict you from enjoying this forum. They are in place so that EVERYONE can enjoy the 240 forums. Please abide by them so that things may run smoothly. If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please PM me and I will answer them accordingly.
