Twin Turbo vs. Singal Turbo

What are some of the big pros and cons of running a larg singal turbo at say... 20psi, instead of having two turbos at the same psi?

Single turbo unless you need two and that pushing rediculious numbers.
1 turbo = less spool time. 2 turbos equals more lag (unless there very small = weak power or insanly expensive)

It's harder to get two turbos hooked up on a V engine. There are two banks and routing both exhausts into one is more difficult than having one per bank. Also the intake is harder to route through the single turbo into the manifold. Also most kits for V engines use two turbos so you'll most likely have to frabricate your own kit.

20 psi of a single turbo and 2 of the same turbos making 20 psi combined will yield no extra hp hense the reason most supra owners convert twin turbos to single turbos. Twin turbos are more of a "pimp factor" imho.

Esp since there are single turbos capable of pushing 3000HP.

NOT TRUE!! My car made 3612whp on a mustang dyno on pump gas. So they can make much more than that even.
(I was using a TD04 15g w/ the 5th injector set up for fuel management.)

Larger compressors flow more air at the same pressure.
Big turbo=higher airflow
small turbo=lower airflow
So on a smaller turbo, you will need to run more boost to obtain the same airflow as a larger turbo at lower boost. And with more boost on the smaller turbo, you get more heat.
So in many cases, a larger turbo is also more efficient given you stay within the proper airflow range.

I'd prefer a single
Twin turbos to me are better with BIGGER engines.
two doesn't mean more power because your exhaust has to give enough flow to spin 2 turbos.

having one small turbo and one large turbo is what is called a sequential turbo system. a sequential turbo system has virtually no lag but is heavy and is very complicated to setup because you need to have cutoffs and everything for both turbos. now with ball bearings the advantages of a sequential setup have been eliminated.

lag can be eliminated by choosing the proper trim and housing for your application...and what your goals are. For street driving, you could get a nice turbo setup with minimal lag, or you could be like nissanfanatic with his TO4B that doesnt boost till about 4000K but hits hard like a beast....if you are going to have your car be a dyno queen then who gives a fuck about lag....

exactly! I dont understand why people think lag when they automatically hear turbos. People must think ALL turbos spool at like 4,000 rpms or something and that superchargers are superior. A properly sized turbo should start making boost almost instantly at wot.
