I am trying to put an HEI in a 1968 chevelle that had a points distributor before. I have an HEI from a 1980 350 Camero.

I have a connector with a Red, Black and a Orange. Where do each of these go if I cut off the connector?

Red to Hot?
Black to ground?
Orange to _____?

thanks,
Rich

I Did This Swap On My '68 Chevelle A Couple Of Months Ago, But Used A '76 Impala Distributor. I Only Had Two Wires...one Black And One Black With A Green Stripe. I Connected The Black And Green Wire(looking At The Distributor With The Connector Facing You That Is The Wire Om The Right) To The Old Lead Going To The Original Distributor. If This Is A Resistor Wire, Replace It With A Regular Wire. If The Car Has A Ballast Resistor, Simply Bypass It And Go Directly To The Hei Unit. The '76 And '80 Distributors Are The Same, So I Hope This Helps.
