Tranny shifting problems

Hi all, my '04 Silverado with 18000 km's shifts harsh and loud (you can hear it bang into gear almost every time from inside the cab) and the other day while coming from a stop, the motor rev'd up, and the tranny didnt get into gear for about 3 seconds (slipping). I've also experienced some studdering while changing gears. It's going into the shop on Wednesday. Any ideas what the problem is so I know before the technician tries to tell me that they all do that?

Have you checked the fluid level? It's possible you may have hit something and got a leak....

Yeah, that sounds like low fluid to me, too

I just checked the fluid level, and I think I'll have to wait until after I drive to work to get it hot, because that's what it says to do on the dipstick. Right now at cold it's seems way overfilled.... And it's never been changed etc. because the truck only has 18,000 kilometers on it :)

Hi, Im at work now....checked the fluid while hot, and it seems to be fine...it's inside the crosshatch marks. Damn I was hoping this was it too. Any other ideas on what it could be?
