transmission in a manual

im not sure where this goes and i have tried google-ing this also but found nothing useful, my question is that how can you mess up the transmission on a manual vehicle? i know in an automatic vehicle, you could seriously do damage if you are driving down a highway and put the car in park or something, what about a manaul transmission? and how can you save life on your clutch, for all you "pro" stick drivers out there :)

Avoid clutch slippage. Don't slide the clutch out gently and let it slip for long periods of time. Practice getting it out as soon and consistently as possible without jerking or stalling the car. Popping the clutch damages everything else so that's not good.

Otherwise, avoid hard shifting. The synchros are designed to match the gears speeds and if you try to shift really fast with a lot of force it will wear them out and you'll get grinding.

Otherwise, most manual trannys are darn near bulletproof at stock power levels.
