ok look here, I got a 97 b16a3 I believe out of a 97 delsol. I have a 94 delsol, is the 97 obd2? I want to do the swap myself though. I got everything needed and then some. I basically got the front end of the car, the engine only has 39k on it and all mounts, tranny, shift linkage, ecu, harnuss all that stuff. I want to put it in though, not a mechanic. I had about 4k saved so its not a big money deal but I just want to say I put it in. Now I have no ecperience but I do know alot about hondas. How hard is this swap really? Will I be ok with a helms and an engine lift? please all info will be very much appreciated.. thanks...

94-95 b16a3 have a OBD 1 computer. The 96-97 b16a2 have a OBD2 computer, the same has the 99/00 Civic Si.

Congratulations on getting the engine. In the scheme of things the swap itself isn't hard if you know what you are doing. Since the b16 comes factory in the VTEC models then there isn't any issues with fitting it in the engine bay. I am not a mechanic or mechanically inclined, but my gut feeling is if you are not either, then I would have it done by someone that has experience with swaps. Find someone that you can help do it with and learn as you go, but I wouldn't risk doing it yourself. You could connect something wrong or not bolt something right or whatever and then you drive it and something fucks up and then you end up having someone fix it and end up paying more money. I say be smart and find someone that knows a lot about engine swaps and see if you can learn and help them as you work on it together. Check out local shops and see if you can be a intern on your own project. Maybe they would cut you a deal on the labor since you would be assisting. Never hurts to ask. Hell, it might end up getting you a job at a shop.
