While driving my 98 regal gs on the expressway the car fails to accelerate. The car did not die out it just that the gas pedal had no effect on the car. I have the car towed to my house because its memorial weekend and all shops closed.
Tow Guy says sounds like either:
1)fuel pump
2)fuel filter
3)fuel modulator
not lines because would see on the ground
Neighbor was having family over for holiday and I notice one guy has repair stickers on van. I talked to him and he says hes been working all day but he can give my car a look over in his shop the next day Monday. To make a long story short... this guy takes my car to his shop and tells me
1)I have a bad pump/modulator (one unit)
I say okay get it fixed then after 1day and not having car repaired he says I have a 2)electrical problem. He keeps my car for 2 weeks saying hes trying to program computer. I get impatient and tell him he's finished. He gives me a bill saying he 3)replaced BCM 4)replaced fuel lines 5)Ignition switch... and he even tries to get me to replace battery and alternator...
New Problem:
1)I have my car back and now the brake warining light on dash comes on with a continous beep when the car is out of park
2)security light on dash is on 90% of the time (mechanic took off my aftermarket car starter and says that security had prevously been bypassed)
3)lights no longer come on automatically when its dark
Questions
1) How do you check the brake fluid on 98 regal gs?
2) Is there a on/off switch or fuse for automatic lights or is this standard?

Why did he change the BCM (Body Control Module)?? Sounds like he might have failed to properly program the BCM for your specific model and year Regal GS to me. Might want to get the old one back from him and re-install it. It a simple DIY job. Its located under the driver's side dash by the parking brake. Its mounted vertically with the connectors at the bottom. Drop down the felt covered kick pad and look up and to the left. The smaller module is for the DRL (Daytime Running Light).
