A/C Unit 1997 Caravan 3.0l

I have a 1997 Caravan 3.0L that I need to replace the Air Conditioner Compressor. I have purchased a remanufactured one from Autozone and I have a business that will bleed the system and fill it for me for only $65.00 labor plus $20.00 per pound.

My questions are:

I know I need to add the A/C oil to the compressor. Where do I add it? How many ounces of oil do I use? Are there any “tricks” or potential problems that I might come across that I should be aware of?

Any advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you purchase a recharge kit you should get a can of refrigerant that contains the right amount of oil for the compressor. If your compressor went bad internally you probably should change the filter and the dryer along with the new compressor. You should also flush the system prior to installing the new compressor or it may have a very short life. Personally I would take it to an AC place to have it done so that they do the job right.
