hey guys! i know this is a metro forum, and i indeed own a metro, but i have a question regarding a 93 dodge shadow i am rebuilding to make money off of, and no one knows anything in the dodge forums, and i know that people in the metro forum are knowledgeable, so here goes:
directly above the camshafts are rocker arm shafts. well, i postioned them correctly over the correct head, but when i tightened them, about 3 or 4 of the 8 would not tighten fully and seat where they should have, but they got so tight after a while that they could no longer be tightend. the shaft rested fully on the heads, and a few of the bolts rested fully, but those stubborn few did not. i pulled them out today, and two of the bolts were stripped at the bottom. are the threads just dirty or what? i need to put this together as soon as possible but this is a road block. any help is great. thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the cam journal cap bolts? or the headbolts? A pic would help. I had a shelby tubro 2.2L a while back, and rebuilt the head a few times.

perhaps there was some metal in them. I would run a thread tap through them and make sure the threads are clean. Also get some new bolts.
