Hi,
I recently purchased a 2001 Caravan used. It did not come with a remote but has power door locks. Is it possible that I have keyless entry? If so, how can i find out?
Thanks,
John

Call Chrysler’s 1-800# give them your vin#. They can tell you what options you have on your van.

I have a 2003 but maybe it's the same, Lift the dash panel right above the steering wheel there should be a square black box about 4x4x1 with a blue connector in it. That is the RKE control box. If it's there you have Keyless entry.

Hope it helps.

The option of the Remote Keyless Entry depends on the original owners specific build configuration. Not every vehicle comes with every available feature.
RKE is a program function of the BCM, providing the moudle and associated wiring is present. There is a Dealer installed kit to allow you add RKE to your vehicle providing you have both power door locks and a BCM (or CTM if your vehicle is a truck).
Most good quality remote starters and alarms have the remote keyless entry feature built in. You may have your work cut out for you during your installation, but it's worth mentioning here as another option.

If your van originally came from a lease/rental group (program van), it not having keyless is no suprise. Most of these companies spec no keyless entry to cheapin up their cost.

Keyless entry systems are available from J. C. Whitney for $39.95 and you can install it yourself, no big deal, they just don't have all the bells and whistles that the factory keyless has, like flashing the lights or beeping the horn, but they work well! I have installed several of these units over the years and have had few complaints.

FYI - A quick way of knowing if your van came from the factory with keyless entry is by the side doors. If you have a keyhole in the sliding doors- no keyless entry
If you don't have - ... you guessed it.

I recently Bought a 2001 Chrysler Voyager "low line" with RKE that HAS a keyhole in both Sliding Doors. This is good for me, since I fried 1 of my transmitters by jumping in a swimming pool with keys in my pocket:(

Funny thing is, the transmitters I got with the van are the ugly fat Transmitters, and only have two buttons (no Panic). There is no Chirp feature when you lock. This doesn't jive with my Factory Manual.

I bought the 3 button tranmitters on ebay, and claimed to work on 2001 voyager, but I could not program them. Perhaps original dealer installed RKE from older van back in 2001? I would like to upgrade to 3 button, if possible.

It sounds like the keyless entry that you have is an aftermarket unit.

But ... my working Key Fob / Transmitter has Chrysler logo on it! FCCID: GOH-M24.

Really strange, since the 2001 RS Factory Manual specified procedure for programming additional remotes requires that you press the "panic" button on a working remote, and my working remote does not have a panic button! Also, the Factory manual shows the remote as matching the one I bought on eBay that I can't seem to program.

Here is the transmitter I bought:

Here is a remote with the same FCCIC as the one that came with the van:

AN Update... It appears that my 01 Voyager has an RKE system from an earlier year (98?). The eBay seller that sold me the remotes (RemoteSuperStore) was very helpful. He believes that replacing the RKE Receiver in my van would be easy. It would actually be cheaper than trying to buy the awful 98 transmitter 2 buttons, and I would get the "panic" feature with a new receiver.

Anyone have a good source of Used RKE Receivers? MoparPartz.com has the Receiver I need for $45 new, delievered. Haven't found many used RKE Receivers on EBay.
