lost in my engine

I have a few questions. But let me give you some history...
First, I recently bought a 1992 Acura Intergera from a performance shop- the engine in the car, so I was told, was not repairable. So I purchased another engine, and took it to the shop. After, I got a funnny feeling. He had told me that the old engine was worthless and he was going to trash it. Later that night I thought about what he had said and realized that I wanted to keep the engine. I called him and left a message and told him not to trash the engine because I had wanted it. Shortly after, his interest was dead. Bringing me to think about my funny feeling. That they wanted that engine for themselves. Now for the questions... He says I have a GSR transmission and a regular B16A engine,
1. How can I tell if my B16A engine is a GSR and not just a regular VTec?
2. What causes a valve and pistons to seize together? Could the previous owner have been so called spraying it?
3. Can an engine with a seized piston and valve be repaired? And what do you think is an estimated price for that? Or how much would it be worth as is, if it is a GSR?
I know this may be a lot, but if you get to the bottom of this then I know you care, because I am lost in my F$!%@# engine. PLEASE HELP!!!! I made this as entertainig as possible so You wouldn't have to feel the pain that I have endured.
Thank You!

I really dont know about the shop, they might eb trying to scam you...First of all. No b16 engines are from a GSR, so you dont have a GSR engine. 2nd an engine can seize from a number of things..too high rpms, hydrolocking, too high rpms, etc. 3rd-As long as you dont have a hole in the block you can repare it.
And AMinHtY- there are no SOHC b-series engine.

first, is it possible it is a b17 those were vtec engine in the second gen tegs. next if the owner before you were "spraying" there is a better chance of bent valves, snapped cam, burnt valves, spun rod bearing, snapped rod. if a rod has been snapped, throw it away when a rod breaks the pison has 2 places to up or the side. this would put a hole in your head or block.
to find out exactly what engine you have....look on the block, the left hand side on the right of the tranny in the front. if you do infact have a gsr tranny there will be a bar code with Y80 if hydrolick, not sure about cable....if you have a working b17 or b16 these are both vtec and you may have gold. Either take it apart yourself or have a trusted mechanic take it apart....or take it to an acura/honda dealership.
it is a possibility that the shop was trying to rip you off or maybe not the shop, but the person may have been trying to rip you off. but most importantly get that engine back f@cked or not.
