Today while I was driving with my family the battery light on my dashboard suddenly came on. I have started the van several times and it seems to be working fine. All acc's are working. Can I be having problems with my altenator. I have a 2000 astro with 151,000 miles on it. Any help would be great thanks. :banghead:

Get a volt meter and check the voltage at the battery with the engine running and with it off.

what readings should I be looking for?
would it be 12v in both positions?

You should see 14+ volts with the engine running.
Closer to 12 with the engine off.

just took in to the shop, and they confirmed it is the altenator.
So I had to fix it.
