engine coolant gauge

The gauge in my car doesn't move for a long time even when I have been driving a bit and I know it works because it moves not to the middle but close to it and it would automatically move down again. It just takes forever especially for a 4 cyl.


Also my fan for when the engine is getting to hot doesn't seem to be working and when I drive for extended periods of time the car seems to be getting quite hot but not once do I think my fan went on. When i put on the a/c both fans seem to work. To me it seems like a thermostat gone bad. Your input is appreciated.
