When Vtec doesn't kick in ( because your oil level might be low or your engine is cold ) it will still rev up to 8000 rpm but I was wondering what happens are you still gonna gain more power at higher rpms or is your car just like a ls engine if vtec doesn't work or engage. Thanks.

i would assume without vtec it would just pull like an ls. all the power from the b18c comes from vtec. where as the power from an ls comes from the stroke of the engine. ls does not have variable valve timing electronic control or vtec...they have torque from the stroke length.

In my gs-r if the Temp isn't up to normal operating temperature then the rev limiter kicks in around 7,500 rpm rather htan over 8,000 where it normally does. And if the temp isn't up to normal operating temp the vtec doesn't work either soo I'm gonna say cold gs-r = slow integra.
fortunately we have one more ace up our sleeve... better gearing which allows us to accelerate faster than an equally equipped ls.
When my speedo broke last year (no speedo also = no vtec) I raced a guy in a 93 LS anyway we were pretty evenly matched however I pulled just a tiny bit in each gear winding up with my back bumper even with his front wheels about.
