Aftermarket CD player install help

Bought 99 ZX2. Have an Aiwa CDC-X217 CD player that I want to install in place of the standard radio/cassette player.

Any suggestions on how I might go about doing this?

I've removed the panel, and quickly noticed that the standard wiring pieces are no where close to matching the cd player. Are there adapters available, or do I need to cut wires and tie them into the cd player? Hope not.

Also, I would need to re-install the panel (all climate control stuff is on it). Is there an aftermarket ZX2 panel available for this whole project?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! If you want to e-mail me instead, please feel free to at: [email protected].

I hope someone can help me out here.

Thanks!

You can buy a standard adapter and run the wires into it, And yes there is an aftermarket panel available. Google is your friend.

Check your local stereo dealer they will be able to supply you with a wiring harness for a reaseonable price. I've used them on 2 occasions and they are well worth the price. I'm about to do the same to my '98 so make sure to post how it worked out for you.

I also have a 99 ZX2, I wanted to make my car unique so I bought the after market converter from Best Buy to put my aftermarket Kenwood stereo in. It costed about 20 dollars for the plate and you will need to transfer your controls to the new plate. The hardest part was getting the temperature control cable back in place because the cable is short. I added the Sirus package with my unit and added a Kenwood 12 disc on the left side of my trunk. There is some pressed wood that normally holds the tools but if you sit it upright you can screw the brackets to the disc changer in thru the carpet and into the pressed wood. Run the cable under the carpet along side the rear seat, under the foot plate, under the carpet below your foot pedals and into the opening where the cupholders are at. Hope this helps you.
