Has anyone tried to repair the cruise/turn signal assembly?
How is the lever removed. I can get the bottom cover off but not hte top one. It looks like a couple of long studs with Torx-type bolt heads. What kind of wrench is used and how many bolts.
Ebay has a new lever for $200. I supect the junk yard would be $100.
See previous thread for the why.

Solved. I got a new lever. $170 from a local parts store - Delco. The hardest problem was finding the reverse Torx sockets to remove the steering shrouds. I did not have to remove the steering wheel. Remove battery connections, don't mess with the airbag deployment possibility. Lower shroud, remove two Torx screws. Upper shroud, remove two Torx bolts. Remove lower dash panels and lower dash brackets. Once the shrouds and dash panels were off, I removed the two Torx screws holding on the lever. The one behind the steering wheel was removed with a 1/4 Torx insert and a 1/4 open end wrench. Backed out the bolt holding the wiring connector together and slid out the two connectors for the lever wires. Slide out the wires. Reassemble in reverse.
Time about two hours.

My nieces 95 Cutlass had a slimilar problem with her turn signal lever the next week. Her brake lights didn't work but the center window light did work. Replaced the lever in a very similar manner as the 'burb. Needed to take of the steering wheel though, required a puller and a tool to remove the steering lock plate - got a kit from NAPA. Lever was $90.

Sold the Suburban, it was a good vehicle. Only a few minor problems in the six years and 100K miles.
