My buddy's looking to get a Lude SH, and I dont see a FAQ. Wondering what to look for, common problems, etc.? I've heard something about one year being better than the previous for the 5th gens, but don't remember what it was....think it was something to do with the tranny...could be way off though. Any info is much appreciated!

no major change b/w the 00's and 01's other than colors and other minor things. it's the 99 to 00 transition that we saw the most changes, which still isn't much. 5 more hp, colors, seat patterns, front grill etc.
the 97-98 model years had some issues - ie electrical/ignition, sunroof operation, the automatic SS tranny. all these weren't major enough to flash a big red flag on purchasing one but honda improved upon them for the remainder of the 5th gens. a 00 or 01 is a pretty safe bet. i dont' recall any considerable issues with these model years.
good luck with your search. and yeah, i'd agree on the FAQ. there was one put together some time ago and god knows what happened to it now but what you can find in there you can find through the search function.

Nope, the 99-00 were no different, its the 98-99 that changed. 99 is the same as 00 and 01.
