Recondition or conversion

Hi guys, im new here, i drive a 92 LS it has about 200K on it that around 320 miles, i got i/h/e and i want to do up the internals like cams pistons and all that jazz. just wondering would it be better to just buy a new engine say a b18b or a b16a or get the engine reconditioned.
im not looking for mass power just something to tough to drive.. im not planing on going turbo however it may be an option in the future.. .
so recon the b18a and do the internals
or b16a, which one would be more reliable and stronger
taking into account money as a factor and the fact that i cant do any of the work im self..

start with a compression and leakdown.
