Okie, this thread is a continuation of another thread. Since, the problem has changed and finally settled down to one issue.

I thought the tranny was slipping ... it was not... so I wanted to start a new thread with a better title.

I posted this in the Blazer section...but I didnt know there was a Jimmy section. One response said I need a new valve body.

At first the issue was it would start out in second gear and then go thru the gears normally. Then, it finally started out in first gear but would not shift past second.

I have tried playing with the shift lever and that does not matter.

It has 79,000 miles on her and is 4 wheel drive with the V6 vortech.

It basicly will not shift to third gear at all. The ONLY way to get it to shift third gear is to redline it in second. Then it goes

The other thing it is doing also it is sometimes it is very very jerky when acclerating.

At one point yesterday it was doing this. Just in stop/go traffic it be just jerking along. I decided to put it back in park and the rpm would go up to 2500-3000. In N it would idle normal. So, with an idle like that it wanted to GO It idles/revs great in part and N.

I do not know what the deal is with this truck.

At one point it did have a CE light and it said 756 for tranny shift solinoid 2-3. Now, since I left the battey unplugged for a long while no light no code.

Is there a good book I can buy to learn about this transmission?

I guess the shift solinoids are exposed when you drop the pan?
Any body got a picture of what I am looking for?
I found this website... I am guessing this is the 4l60E tranny.

Do I want D74421 or 74421?

Also, I noticed this. When I am driving at lets say....most any speed in 2nd gear (gear shifter in second) and I let off the gas the rpm stays put and decreases with car speed. Acts this way with it in the first D.

However, put the gear selector in D - Overdrive and let off teh gas the rpm drops all the way to idle...and I am still going 40 mph.

I am getting so frustrated I just want to drop it off at the dealer...but I know that would prob be the biggest mistake.

Also, sometimes when you put it in reverse...it will start jerking very bad while in reverse.

Well, I just took it to a tranny shop and there happen to be a rep there for some Gemini code reader.

I was so happy that I had the right man looking over things.

Well , just about when we hit the highway to see what this truck is doing the data reader broke communication with the car. And it would restablish for like a split second.

The rep seems to believe there is a short somewhere in the harness.

So, the shop said I could just leave the truck there and they would check it for me. I dunno...I am scared to leave my car for an electrical gremlin.

Any thoughts on a short?

Could be the valvebody electrical going kaput and causing the issue... When they go all sorts of things tend to happen. Got so bad gm had to redesign it.

So, that means replace the valve body?
