thinking about a Highlander

My aunt just got a new highlander which is a very nice car. I actually drove it last week and it drove really smooth. This was actually the first time I drove an SUV so I didn't really know what to expect. Now my mom is looking for a new car and she can't really decide whether she wants a large sadan or a smaller SUV. So I'm thinking something like a Highlander would be good for her. But we need something to compare it to. Does anyone have any suggestions of SUV's similar to the highlander that she could use to compare? Thanks!

Honda Pilot is often compared to Highlander but is longer and wider. Both are non-truck type vehicles, Highlander is based on Camry and Pilot is based on Odyssey. Highlander comes in two and all wheel drive and 4 and 6 cyl. Honda has 6 cyl and all wheel drive. Some smaller choices include Honda CRV and Ford Escape.
