97 Tracer Wont shift into gear

My tracer will start fine but will not shift out of park, the little button seems to engage as usual when i step on the brake, but it wont come out of park. I see some other similar probs here, but they all refer to manual transmission, Any ideas? Thanks in Advance :eek7:
