Good luck with that. The stock crank will fail at 400HP, so, if you replace the entire bottom end, top end, add a turbo, and everything else that you would need, yeah, you may SOME day beat the SR, and you will have spent about $20,000 doing it. Have fun.
bullshit, ivan from soundperformance never broke the stock crank even at 638whp. the stock rods also didn't break till 600+whp. the only weak link the in the KA is the stock pistons which broke at 400whp for him. don't underestimate the KA's bottom end. i know a guy who is running stock everything except for head gasket, head studs and pistons and hes making 400+whp on his KA, i've been running boost for over 2 years on my bone stock KA and now i'm running 13-15 psi on my T04B and i still have no problems iwth it. and i know of countless other people making 350whp on stock bottom end KA's as well.
ivan made 600+whp with a stock head, stock intake manifold with only 1.5 years of research and developement. he basically changed the pistons and rods, and headgastket and head studs and nothing else. hes going for 700+whp later this year and planning to run 8's.

this is a very credible shop, i've seen a few of their cars on turbo magazine, they usually build 9 second supras.
they also got a stock block ka to hit 300whp with on 10 psi of boost. this guy is a amazing tuner. this is all done witht he AEM EMS. you don't need 20K to try to top the SR's peak power record. since it doesn't need a stroker kit, and its still using small intercooler pipes with stock head, stock valves, stock throttle body, and stock intake manifold. now imagine what it can do with all of that changed, and has all the mods that the top power SR has.
