I just watched F&F a couple days ago and i noticed that in the movie johnie tran refers to a sr20 motor at the point inthe movie where dom and brian are in trans garage and tran is beating down that old guy for motors. Has anyone else relized that? oh well flaming for this will occur i kno.
my real question: I kbb'd a 95' 240sx and it came between 5k-6.5k depending on the accesroies and i was wondering is that really a fare price? I was on autotrader and i found a 95' black 240 for 3.8k... i am looking into buying a 240 as most of u can figure and i've posted here alot and i was just wondring what you all bought your 240's for and what a fare price for one would be...

Yeah, everyone has noticed that he says it, but, has anyone realized that the 2 cars missing engines are a Civic and a Teg???? HAHAHA Silly writers, SR20s are Nissan engines.
XeVeNskyLiNE

^^^yea I noticed that. Did you also realize they were tlaking about putting those engines, into their Hondas, for Race Wars, a drag tournament :disappoin F&F writers are dumb bastards.
In the first movie, the drag racing scene had 2 Tegs, Eclipse ( ) vs. a damn Rx7, you tell me whose gonna win? And why theh ell is it drag racing in the first place! argh!!!!!!

Because...ummm....all street races are drag races!!! (Except for Touge, but that wasn't popular enough when the movie was made.) Also, in the first race, the Asian dude was driving a Civic, not a Teg. And I know everyone has said this a million times, but how do you lose your floor when you push your engine to hard? And how did he get away from the cops when he had fried piston rings and blown welds on his intake manifold?
XeVeNskyLiNE

Oh yea your right, that white civic have some fuckin Mustang taillights. wow, thats just........unhumantarity, i had to make a new word for that crap..
Anyways, duh he ran from the cops, Eclipses are invincible!!!!!!! :evillol:
And oh yea, not all street races are drags, sorta...theres the kinds that envolve having to make turns then theres highway battles, woot

and how do you blow the welds on your intake manifold? and how does shooting a car make the nitrous explode? and how does double-clutching help win a drag race? and why does paul walker suck so bad? and why would anyone be so stupid to make a movie like this in the first place? and how does a car spin out when it tops out?

well....a porrly designed intake manifold with shitty welds maybe from BD would....Actually Nitrous isnt all that flamable....Double Clutching keeps the revs up so when you go to shift you lose no RPM....I dont think he sucks?....because they know theres a bagillion dollars in that market to be made....He doesnt spin out because of Top Out. Im guessing he has a 1/4 mile marked off and in that 1/4 mile stretch he got 145 seeing that its a movie. Im also guessing he hit his brakes and maybe lock them or caught a gravel patch...

maybe but it would have to REALLY suck....nitrous doesnt explode unless you literally set it on fire with like a plasma torch or something...double clutching doesnt help at all. the point of it is to rev match in cars with no synchros or blown synchros. if you want to keep the revs up, buy a better clutch. as far as i know, there are no cars that the power band is so high that you need to rev between shifts. maybe stock civic dx but you shouldnt be racing that car anyways.......he sucks(i guess its my opinion)....i guess......he spins to make it look cool for the movie. not for any logical reason.

back on topic, i got my car for $2800 (s13), a friend of mine got his s13 coupe for $1500, and yet another with an s14 in pretty good condition for $3k, so between $3-5k for the zenkis ('95-'96) and prolly $5-7k for the koukis ('97-'98), so $3.8 is not bad if its in good condition

that asian dude in the white civic is r j devera, probrably the only true car guy in the whole movie. that s2000 in the movie was his. its super charged, and doesn't have those gay golden snow flake decals on them. r j devera is one of the pioneers of import cars.
also the first movie did have a 240sx. its the purple one that michelle rodriguez was driving. its a 95 S14 with a kouki front end conversion with one of the earlier SR20DET swaps done to it. the car was originally silver color before they borrowed it for the movie and painted it purple.

How do you know the S14 is a Zenki and not a kouki? It has kouki lights, front and back.
Oh and about the S14, at races wars when the guy in the white FD talks to her, she's sitting in racing seats, but when the line up to race, they are stock seats. someone messed up.

That is for honds. Go with a race proven kit on the 240 like JIC Magic, Silk Road, or Tein. That is, if you are thinking of going coil over. Tein also has lowering springs if that is what you want. It will mess up your camber though. Look through some of these threads for some links, and you will be able to find every part you could ever want for the 240SX.

actually doubly clutching is what you do when you don't have a synchronized transmission
Don't you use it to downshift? That is what I do, anyway. That way you don't change the rpm's so much that you lose traction on a corner. And I still don't see a difference in those dash clusters. Oh well.

the difference in tach's is the zenki goes from say 8 o'clock to 2 o'clock the kouki goes from like 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock.
its weird though my cluster is black with white letters i wish it was white with black letters that looks cooler. maybe its just because thats the one i dont have though. grass is greener, eh?

F&F is made by hollywood, to entertain regular people that have no knowledge of how cars work or how to make them faster, example the ricer crowd, now alot of them will swear by the movie, adding tons of body work to only the PVC cold air intake and ebay exhuast/muffler
ya i figured that was whack too, SR20DET in civic's and such, i did notice the 240sx though, and the skyline which was a fake if i remember correctly, i could swear that i read an article stating that it was an accord modified to look like a skyline

Which suspension should i go with off the bat?(already been answered but more wouldnt hurt)I also need help with the more techinal aspects of my car since I do not kno everything about automobiles yet. And is 3.8k fair for a 1995 240sx s14, blk,blk leather 5 spd with a mooner no rear fin and basically stock?Woooh lets try to get these answers along with hatin on F&F which is a movie that i personally like for the entertainment value but for car knowledge it teaches your absolutely dick...have a nice day

that S14 sounds like a pretty good deal. I'd check out the mechanical condition of the car... besides what options you will get. (i.e.- engine bay, tranny, clutch, dif, tires/brakes, etc...)
I got my 93 S13 for 2k ... engine was clean and it was a base model.. hence, no hicas or abs... pretty good deal for my standards.
as for suspension, it depends on what you want to do. If you are planning to race on the track... i'd go with coilovers but if you are just going for a street tune.. springs and shocks would be more ideal because of comfort (roads aren't straight and flat like they are on a closed track)

The movie itself wasn't that bad. I love that someone made a movie about people stealing stuff to build cars. Thats great because I could see myself doing the same thing.lol
My problem is people make a movie and don't take the time to reasearch one of the main subjects of the movie. Not much if any of the car talk made any sense... And when you understand a subject, its annoying to hear someone talk about it and not have a clue what they are talking about. Just think of the movie as this forum and the actors as dumb-ass newbs... Yea its like that..

If they did make it all technical and accurate, all the little kids who went to see it wouldn't have understood anything (well, even less then they did) and people who don't know anything about cars (most people who went to see the movie) would want it to be less technical, so once again, the majority wins. But I totally agree, they should have done it right by researching and stuff like that.

Considering it is prolly a sponsored car, it was in a MOVIE...
Most of the people on here, including myself, are not rich, don't have high paying jobs, and have pocket change left over from paying bills, college expenses, (saving for college:me:), and whatever else pops up. So everyone spare us the "I konw a car that can beat your car up" line. We all know if a car is fast. The maxima is quick as shit. Spun the tires like Puff Daddy's rims all the way down teh street.
