a lot of 2.8's come with the red colored parts from the factory, well, in the fiero's at least.

Wow, what a coincidence.. I just got my new (well used, but new to me) 3.4 in today. Since my cars my daily driver, i didn't wanna tear the engine down and do the rebuild, so I got another one. Cost me $150 + $250 shipping. So yeah.. $400 smackers all together. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

so you didnt want to rebuild your used engine, so youre putting in another used one?????? the logic confuses me. oh and if youre looking to get a cherry picker, check out harbor freight, they have really low prices on tools and equipment. Its not snap on, but it will get the job done just fine. Dont get me wrong, when it comes to specialty tools and stuff like torque wrenches i go with craftsman or snap on, but for big items like cherry pickers or simple wrenches the stuff at harbor freight is cheap and works just fine.

No, you misunderstood. You see, I bought another used engine so I can rebuild that one rather than my current engine. It's got 123K miles on it, so it's not too bad. I was initially going to rebuild my current engine. But seeing as in how my bird is my daily driver, i decided it would be best if I could get a hold of another 3.4 and rebuild that. Then just swap them out. Plus.. seeing as in how this is my first engine project, I figured it would be wiser to work on a engine that's not in my car. That way in case I really mess something up, I won't be screwed w/ no car to drive.

all the suspensionparts that i put in were that red except for the actual struts and shocks, so i painted me rear end cover red to match that, nd then i was like well i got red spray paint and my suspensions mostly red so what the hell il paint it red. plus the engine is black and black + red looks good. so i painted it red. and if i get my car painted i would like it to be black with 2 red racing stripes so it will match my engine. but then i will have to pay lost for that paint job so they paint the whole thing, and my car actually has quite a bit of rust so i probably wont get it painted, but it wil look flashy annd maybe some one will buy it for alot, like 3500 so i can buy a camaro with a 3.8. i like 3rd gens better but around here there just nothing but rust buckets.......its sad.

oh and i got the same engine so i wouldnt have to buy any parts. like trans, mounts, radiator, blah blah blah, im on a tight budget. i got the engine for 799 and i have spent 100 on gaskets and worn out parts ect that i am supposed to switch to my new engine. spaeking of that i need a new distributer cause mine is rusted up the but and a contact is bent down, but that $130 at advance auto and tomorrow im gonna run down the road and check out what napa charges for it. and ill call auto zone and some other little parts house like napa that i forgot the name of. ok this is really long so im done

my friends dad is helping me, its his engine lift and stand. and hes swapped lots of engines so hes helping me out. were almost finished. hopefuly by tomorrow its done cause on tuesday hes going to california. the new engine came with an oil pump.
