Braking = Steering wheel wiggles

braking sometimes makes the wheel move a bit like i'm on a dirt road or something, whats that mean? :)

whne i hit my brakes the car jerks a little to the left, i think its just something like one pad touches first so it dose a little pull to left thing, is that what yours does? or does it actually wiggle back and forth?

On a dirt road? I dont know but my Monte moves from side to side if I brake really hard.

Err... no.. "Like it was on a dirt road."
the car doesn't shimmy or move or anything.

the steering wheel feels loose. but if I try to move it like back and forth its firm.

wiggles and stuff when i brake.

I know what you're talking about now, my mom's Lincoln did it too, I cant really help you out on what makes it do that though, i'd say its normal but who knows?

warped rotors.

Yep, warped rotors will make your wheel bobble a bit and most the time you'll feel it in the brake pedal too. Usually if the steering wheel moves, means that somebady cranked the lugs on too tight.

A pull to the side during braking is usually a hung caliper.

Pulling back and for under hard, I'd have to say is ABS at play?

They are brand new rotors I put 'em on a few months ago, how can they be warped?

I thought my Monte was gunna spin out whenever I was braking that hard because it was going left to right so badly. I broke becausesome stupid person decided to turn left when im very close to em.

they can warp from sitting or being made of cheap material...

89IROC&RS
06-17-2005, 11:59 PM
or from riding em like an old lady

they can warp from sitting

I think mine did, but question, when the rotors get warped will your braking feel weaker in addition to the vibration??

89IROC&RS
06-20-2005, 02:24 PM
possibly, i dont know that its a rule though.

Xenostalgia

eh braking feels a tad bit weaker but they were like 70$ ones form autozone :/

warped rotors.
Nope.

That is just something with the Z-28's. :icon16: :icon16: :icon16:

bingo, get AC delco parts, and problem will go away.

Xenostalgia
06-21-2005, 12:51 AM
even tho i changed them just like 5 months ago? they are already warped?

sometimes when braking it barely vibrates and under hard braking it barely does it still sound like its warped?

lol, if you press the brake pedal, and your steering wheel shakes, your rotors are warped. dosnt matter when it does it.

Xenostalgia
06-21-2005, 12:54 AM
lol you suck i'm in denile

so what if you just kinda lightly tap and it doesn't do it all the time? does it mean it could be something else?

would warped rotors make the front end seem to have a weaker suspension and be weaker braking?

how can cheap rotors get warped, just hitting 'em hard once on the freeway if there is an accident ahead?

Mr. Luos

If you didn't properly break in your brakes....
If you had to get on them when they were new, there is a good chance you overheated them, in turn warping them.

Xenostalgia

5 months = not broken in? (just recently started shaking)

Mr. Luos
06-21-2005, 01:03 AM
Depends on the mileage.

The cheaper the rotor, the faster it will warp. Even once they are broke in, if they overheat, they can still warp.

Just have your rotors turned. Should be fine.

Xenostalgia

wouldn't it be better in the long run to just buy better quality rotors if after like 6-7k miles they warp?

Heres the master info on this man, get new rotors brakes and a front end allignment. After that you'd drop like $400 but your car wont wiggle. When stopping tho your car will shake because the rear end isnt strong enough for all the power your pushin.

Imagine a V8! According to Xeno those 2 extra cylinders are dead weight!

I just got my rotors cut a day before yesterday, I was having the same problem ( any time I press on the brakes while going 40mph or so the steering wheel wiggled ) . I dont have any problems with them since.

Xenostalgia
06-24-2005, 10:34 AM
fine fine fine... I guess... I'll take your most likely wrong advice... >_>

jk

i know rotors are gone but i'm just upset I spent 150$ a couple months ago on 'em, ya know?

Savage Messiah

Tae em in to a shop and see if they can get resurfaced, it could be a minor thing... or just get new rotors. Do you still have rear drums?

Savage Messiah

Yea who gets 6ers... mine's not, it's a V8 with the TCD mod (two cylinder delete) :lol2: John, that's why it doesn't sound like a V6.... hahaha

Xenostalgia
06-24-2005, 03:14 PM
lol yer weird.

brake resurface is 80$ why waste my money on already-proven-shitty rotors then to put it towards some new AC Delcos? see the logic? (delcos are like 90$ a piece)

Savage Messiah
06-25-2005, 03:45 AM
Well, Delco's or any proven/reliable aftermarket manufacturer (meaning like Baer or something, not pep boys unmarked white box rotors)
