Ford Trucks are sure having their problems.

Ford truck owners and Ford Motor Company must be wondering "what hit them" the last couple of months. First it was the very public national media coverage of F150's that catch fire even while sitting parked and not running - the cause - cruise control shorting. The impact so bad - that Ford had to advice owners not to park their vehicles near their house or in a garage until the recalls could be completed. Even worse - the time to complete the recall of so many vehicles going back into the 90's and all the way up thru current models - entails the balance of 2005 - millions of vehicles are involved.

Then - just last week - out comes the information of recalls needed for F350 and F450 models and Diesel engine based Ford trucks.

Though always a prior Ford owner myself - recalls like these seem to point to just how much money is wasted each year by manfacturers - not improving the vehicles - but merely having to extensively fix them.

Imagine if you owned an F150 truck - yet you aren't supposed to park it near your house for the next 6 months and aren't supposed to be concerned about taking your kids in it or making travel plans that included long distance driving. Yikes.

Not to mention prior to the new body style coming out, the damage and injuries you could insue from a crash were terrible.

Are the new ones that much safer?

Ford isn't the only one. It seems every major auto maker is dealing with this. Maybe too much of a rush to release new products? Ford, GM, and Chrysler all have their own problems, and each of them have thier own qualities. Too bad GM is going broke. Maybe they would be able to fix the current TSB/recalls. At least Ford fixes their's.

Funny how Moose points out what most of you are complaining about, problems. Ford is fixing theirs because it catches fire, where did Chevy catch fire??? Chevy did a recall when the cables caused bodily harm or did we forget so soon. Wouldn't it be a great world if the manufacturers fixed all our problems, changed our oil, rotated our tires and wiped our A@@es??? The point of the thread looks to be that they all have problems. If you don't like the fact that the world is imperfect please show us how you walk on water so the manufacturers can follow your example :icesangel . NOBODY IS PERFECT, the one who was left this sorry place until another day..... Please God show me how to fly with eagles when the only bird around is a freakin buzzerd.

Now on to the the next complaint so we can tear the world and the everyone else apart for being human. :biggrin2:

Sorry....again Jethro. Yes, we are all human, and no, it isn't a "perfect world" we live in. When I pay 35K+ for a truck, I kind of expect it to be worth that $$$. I own an '03 Silverado and it has been a good truck besides the piston slap. It just plain sucks that when I start my Silverado and My new Dodge Cummins at the same time they both sound the same. That in itself is enough reason to "bitch". And yes, you're excused. ;)

GM is not going broke, put that mess right out your head. No auto manufacturer is going broke. Remember how Chrysler was REALLY close to going broke in the 80's, when all of a sudden they didn't? The end result is they got Jeep, ditched Plymouth, and everyone wound up driving a better Chrysler.

I didn't say they wouldn't have to cut back, that part is inevitable. However, the UAW, I think, is responsible for our domestic auto makers getting into financial trouble. Having assembly line workers making $40 or $50 an hour, plus all of the extravagant benefits they get has cut our domestic auto makers' quality. They cannot afford to keep quality as high as it should be (I still think it's close, but not quite) AND pay for all of this stuff as dictated by the unions. That and the higher-ups all make too much money.

Yeah, they need to hire some union busters or something. I'm not knocking assembly line workers, but, damn, i think they're way overpaid. Half of the assembly lines are automated, so all they have to do is push a few buttons.

The UAW isn't helping GM and Ford.

GM needs to use the 4.2 liter 275 hp I-6 in new 2007 trucks and SUVs.

Sales are only increasing for new Chevrolet Cobalts, new Pontiac G6s, and new Buick LaCrosses.
