4wd not disengaging

does anybody know how to diagnose a pushbutton 4wd? my transfer case stays engaged when in 2 wheel high, but the front diff will disengage. I had the problem with the solder joints on the pushbutton switch a while back and repaired that. It was working great until a month ago it sounded like the transfer case was engaged and sure enough it is!
