93 Dakota 5 Speed, 3.9, Multi port injection, 120,000 miles
Intermitent restart problems mostly in hot weather. Engine never stops running once started only problem is when trying to restart. Truck fine for months at a time then once and awhile will not start after stoping. You can wait a few minnites then will start and then again not. Sometimes no spark and sometimes no fuel to engine. Like i said never stops while running only when trying to restart very random problem.
I have replaced Fuel pump, All plug wires, Rotor and cap, Plugs, Fuel filter ,Computer. Problem still haunts me for two years. Problem showes up more in hot weather. Thanks for any information

Addition: I have relpaced crankshaft position sensor but still have the same starting problem described above.

you could have a bad crankshaft position sensor, mounted in your bellhousing on the passenger side of the transmission.

I have been experiencing the same problem with my 93 Dakota.
Did you ever resolve the problem?

I can't find my manual on that right now but does the 93 have a distributor? Is there a pickup coil in that ignition? If not, I would say cam sensor,

I'm not talking about the ignition coil, but the hall effect pickup coil in the distributor under the rotor.

I have the same problem..however I get good spark, can dump a bit of fuel in the throttlebody and it will fire right up, but cant hear the fuel pump whine when to pre-pressurize the fuel line, I know the fuel pump works

Can the fuel relay get old or go bad after time? I have switched relays out in the box in the engine well...but it still wont work, sometimes it does, sometimes it wont, but once it works it works fine and will stay running no problems

Oh yah..I have a '92 Dakota with the 5.2L 318V8
