Hi i'm looking to buy a 93 to 98 supra and i was wanting to get a stage 7 turbo kit for it then which is supposidley going to do like 700 hp on pump gas with a single turbo swap well to do that would i want to buy a N/A supra and save some money or buy a TT and change it overto the one which would be better and also would it be better for a auto or manual cause i've seen alot of fast ass supras on the street with auto's because manuals are just to slow. I just need some input and wwwhat would be betterto go with.

Thanks

Save your money and buy the TT. They're more than just a turbo slapped onto the engine.

And 700 HP on pump gas?? Are you sure about that?? I would say the max you could get on pump gas and a stock fuel system would be around 500-550 hp, but I'm not sure.

LOL, well for starters you dont seen to know much about the supras, yet! When supras talk about upgrades they dont say i got a stage I, stage III turbo, yada yada, this is not grand turismo :) Talking in stages is exactly what will keep you form learning anything about supras, get more technical in your terms and you will be surprized how fast you start learning.

Do not buy N/A and try and convert it to Turbo and expect 700Hp just like that. Buy a TT enjoy it then start saving and go single if you want, but here is why you want a TT and here is why you dont want AT,

N/A cars cant handle the power you throw at it unless you put on it all the TT parts, like the rear end for example, the tranny, TT breaks would be a good idea too, fuel delivery, etc etc...

AT TT supras can only handle about 500hp, so you would have to buy another tranny probably if you wanna stick to the "no skills" box. You would also have to rebuild the N/A engine and put in lower compression pistons and making sure it can handle 700hp.

Now that said, here is why you want a TT 6 speed and why you should wait.

TT engine on stock internals holds up 1,000hp, the stock tranny holds up 1,000hp, the rear end and the whole drivetrain on the supra is built like a tank. Also the value of a 6 speed TT will keep rising because of the demand.

As for 6 speed cars being slow, then how do you explain the record held by a street legal 6 speed supra with 9.21 @ 160mph ? some well built automatics can be faster a little yes, because you dont have to worry about shifting, but are you buying this car to actually have some fun with it or live on the track or drag every family car from stop light to stop light?

I know some people that bought AT supras and wanted a 6 speed and regret it because the drive is pretty borring, to them and to me, some people like the fact that you can hit the gas and everything is done for you, but i actually like being in full control of the car, it actually takes skills at the track to set some good times for yourself, its all on what you want. :)

good luck finding one

I'm looking to purchase a supra. But man they're expensive. all breaking the 11-12k mark easily and even worse for the TT models.

Should I shop dealer or pray a private owner will give me a decent price on one?

Try a loan. That's what I'm doing when I buy my Mk IV. The money I save up I'll spend on upgrades, body, turbo, etc.

Save your money for a mkiv turbo. No sense ramming a lot of money just to get 400 RWHP when you can do that with simple mods on the turbo platform.

If you have a budget of $11K for a mkiv.. look elsewhere. Mkiv turbos are $15k for a mechanics special to over $50K.
