car operates fine.
however, voltmeter on the gauge cluster no longer reading correct values. couple weeks ago was driving down the road, it read zero. now as electrical load is increased, the meter stays at constant value. also, the other morning, the tach was reading zero while the engine was running. the tach has since resumed functioning and has not malfunctioned again, but the voltmeter is still gay.

anyone got any comments on what is up? also, the service man. shows a chip-set on the back of the cluster. anyone know if this is a standard, solid-state logic chip or if it is a burned EEPROM or what?

check your alternator output with a multimeter to make sure the guages are not malfunctioning. If the alternator output is normal, but the guage still says nothing. youll have to get it fixed. youll have to take it to the dealership to have it shipped out for repairs. they cant do it in house.
