Hello All!
Anyways i would like to know what is pretty much needed to swap over? Is the 3.8L auto tranny good for the 5.0? pretty much the basic questions and things needed for the swap? Also IF i do this i might go ahead and repair some of the front end. I know its common for the upper control arm bushings to go out but what else is possible for it to clunk when going over bumps? on flat black top you dont hear it but if there is a bump in the road its quick to make a CLUNK! thanks in advanced guys! later

The tranny should bolt up. Depending on what you will want for power out of the 5.0, you'll need the 8.8" rearend. Computer, wiring harness, exhaust, accessories, etc. It is honestly cheaper and easier to just sell the 3.8 car and buy a 5.0. Many guys have started the swap and never finished because of the headaches.

Its not worth the trouble unless your just doing it for the fun of it.

yes i was just going to do it for the fun of it. i can get a H.O. rebuilt motor fairly cheap thats why. but its not that much of a PITA it seems. i've done worse. was just asking dunno if i will sell the car or keep it. i guess once i sell it, it will be for an sp turbo... i'll miss the old bird then. bah thanks guys!!

I have 2 93 birds 1 with a blown 3.8 and 1 with a 5.0 HO how hard is this swap. Both are auto trans. both run until I pulled the head on the 3.8 because of water in oil

I have had 2 birds, one with the 3.8 and the other with the 5.0H.O. If you're planning on having it fuel injected keep in mijd that the the wiring harnesses are different along with the computer. The tranny will bolt right up but is slightly weaker then a 5.0 tranny. All the accessories are different as is the radiator.
Good news, I have a fairly new radiator and an alternator for a 5.0 bird if you need one. Both work fine tbirdowner302@yahoo.com
I wrecked the car in the back end last year, sold most of the big stuff like motor and tranny
