8th transmission?

Ok I'm on my 8th transmission now & it's back in limp mode & nobody knows why?
I've got 475,637 on my 95 concorde 3.3L The car runs and looks great besides for the ps tranny.
Anyhow I always blow a tranny every 13-14 months always. I was driving on the highway 75-80MPH and it went into limp mode HARD my belts went flying & all.
I had it towed to aamco and they told me the TCM had 2 errors, 1 shift solenoid, & 2 gear ratio error in 3trd.
So I had them replace the solenoid & now the tranny slips then goes into limp mode. They have re scanned it and no error codes pop up.
Anyone know why?

sounds like when Aamco replaced the transmission, they used the wrong transmission fluid. The recommended fluid for ALL Chrysler transmissions after 1999 is Mopar ATF +4. If they didn't put that fluid in (and it's been my experience with most Aamco shops) that they don't put the right fluid in and it causes problems for Chrysler transmissions. If you want the TSB for the right fluid, email me @ nitroglycerin1182@hotmail.com and I'll give you the Chrysler TSB from 2001 and you can show them.

ya.. the FREAKnasty82 is right, i had the same experience..and its many shops that do that (wrong tranny fluid) cause its cheaper for them. i have a 94 concord with the original tranny with 278,000 km on it, and i got it supercharged (28psi). Right now i got 403 hp at the wheels with the 3.3 L engine, and the tranny is holding up with many beatings!!

Um... Under normal condition I would believe that to be true. However I have rebuilt this unit myself using AFT+3 & another rebuild time using ATF+4 & neither lasted longer then the other.
Anyhow I just emailed you asking for that TSB.
chrisk7k how the hell did you manager to get 403hp out of the 3.3L? I would love to know.
I had a spare 95 concorde for parts & I tried turbo charging it and I blew parts of the heads right threw the hood.

haha...i know its hard to believe..trust me its was not easy nor CHEAP! I got the supercharger kit from a buddy that owns a shop for 3000$ (its a vortech supercharger originally made for the 5L mustang so some modes were needed). And i got a 75hp wet-shot of nitrous. I got a new cam and rokers and intake. I also did some other little things along with replacing the computer chip...which i got with the supercharger.
Don't get me wrong the original auto trany is gone ...i replaced it with a beefed-up 5-speed from a toyota tacoma...(LOL the original trany would never take 403hp)..(I just wanted to say that i did 278,000km no nthe original one with on problems)
Ya ..turbocharging is a different story...see with my supercharger the belts just strips off in secounds if i over boost...with the turbo you'll need a waste gate or something like that so you can adjust boost levels to you size engine and specs. Also the new computer chip takes care of the rest for me.
Its cool your the first guy i've talked to who tried tuning a concord other then me...its cool cause mine looks completely stock so it make for a awsome sleeper!!....haha..one problem is getting that power to the ground!!

Chris you have gotta tell me how you were able to use a tacomas tranny.
Next year when mine goes for the 9th time (which it will go) I'll want to replace it like you did.
As for your belts stripping off I have no clue why. All I can recommend is you make it as tight as possible.

ok unless you know a good mechanic I would not recommend attempting to do this swap yourself. To be honest with you it was not my ideal but my buddy’s who owns a nice car shop ..and he had a smashed 95 Tacoma 5-speed that he got for $250. First the bolt pattern obviously is not the same so we made an extended plate (4 inchs thick) to account for the difference (this alone took a day at the shop) As for the clutch and pressure plate installation…my buddy had it custom ordered from Clutch-Works..and they send us a new fly wheel and a six-pack clutch and the descent pressure plate which went on without a any problem. Believe it or not that was the easy part…the hardest was the rear wheel drive train installation from the Tacoma. It took some cutting and a LOT of welding but it was done in 2 weeks. In total I spend around $1200 for the whole installation and 6 weeks of work. BUT is was worth it!!

That works out to be 1 tranny for every 59,454.62 miles. It's a Chrysler, thats just about right! :iceslolan
Anyway, here's a thought. Years ago, my brother went through 3 tranny's in a year in his 1979 Turbo Buick Regal. The problem you ask? The radiator! The portion of the rad that handled cooling for the auto trans was clogged. Along with the last tranny he plugged the lines to the radiator and added a stand-alone tranny cooler. Problem solved. :)

Just so you all know I'm upto my 10th tranny now. :banghead:
As for the tranny cooler I did put one in a few years back & I always replace it when I rebuild the tranny. I think it's time I get a whole new unit. What do you think? It's either that or these new replacement parts are junk.

Our tanny's are pretty much junk. Thats the bottom line. I work at Cottman Trans and I see these trannys all the time.

I hate to say it but I'm on the 12th transmission now.
That's 5 tranny in the last F*&$*#@ 30 days
I drove it a whopping 1/2 mile and it went back into limp mode. Turned around & told them it's back in limp mode. I had them drop the pan in front of me and sure enough it was filled with brass.
Tonight I went back to get the (so called fixed car) & before I could get out of the lot the tranny locked up & I kissed the steering wheel.
They had to remove both axles in the parking so that it could be rolled back into the shop. These aamco guys are complete morons if you ask me. :nono:

AAmco is not the greatest tranny shop. Some of those guys just don't know what they are doing.
