A/C recharge

I'd like to recharge my AC but i'd like to know first if it's absolutely necessary to go to a certified "professional" to have it done or if i can just to to walmart and by one of those bottles with the gage on it, hook it up and let'er fly. I know the specifics are a little more involved than that. I'd have to check the required pressure for my system and make sure i connect it to the right side. I just want to know if it's as simple as screwing in the bottle and refilling the AC? Thanks for the help.

I think all you have to do is just get those bottles, they should be R-134A which im sure is what is in your ac system, i dont think you have to worry about the screwing up the sides becuase one shrader valve should be bigger than the other, and it should say on your emissions sticker how much to put in, im not 100% sure with how good those bottles work, my dad tried them and it worked fine so i dont think you have to worry about it, hope this helps

Just charged mine with one of those Walmart bottles with the gauge. Piece of cake and works well. Cost a whole whopping 20 bucks...hell of a lot cheaper than the stealership

Yep, and when you see the nozzle that you get with the recharge kit and look under your hood, you'll see that there's no way to confuse them.

if the ac system is totally empty, then you should get the system evacuated. charging a system that has air in it will cause freeze up problems. if it still has some freon in it , then just get a charge bottle and recharge. it is pretty simple. just dont over charge the system, the ac won't work as well.
