anyone know what the internal resistance of the knock sensor on a 97 civic is supposed to be? also, where is the sensor?

The knock sensor should be in the middle of the engine (back).
Ok, I've been reading around to try and find an answer for the resistance thing, and I came up with some strange info (aka; not sure about it). I read that there isn't a resistance value for the sensor at all, and that it either has continuity or it doesn't (works or doesn't). I'm sure that doesn't help much. Here's a screen cap of the service manual of how to test it (again it gives no resistance value): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/CivicSpoon/knocksensor.jpg
Hope this helps, I myself am not familiar with knock sensors (as my car doesn't use one).

I thought it was a Piezoelectric device, generates a voltage or pulse. ?????

Yeah that's what I read, it generated a pulse. Like I said, I'm not familiar with knock sensors at all and that info was just what I found over at honda-tech :dunno:
Here's where I read it (posts 12-15 on that page): http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=735196&page=4

i wasnt sure if the sensor was piezoelectric or not, assumed it wasnt from readin somewhere. either way that document you linked to seems like it will help. ill take a look at it and see what happens. thank you much for the info guys...
